Ardglass Development Association

The Ardglass Development Association - ADA -was formed at an inaugural public meeting in 1991.The objective of ADA is to make Ardglass an even better place in which to live. Its main activities are to improve the infrastructure, facilitate learning, in particular in the field of ICT, protect the environment and promote social programmes.
The first infrastructure project was the creation of a marina in 1996 proved to be a great asset to the village. The second project was to regenerate the village by improving the infrastructure and was undertaken jointly by Down District Council and ADA who established the requirements and prepared the funding request. The implementation was managed by the Council and was completed in 2009.

Ardglass Computer Suite

In the ICT field ADA established a suite of wireless computers on the first floor of the Community Centre. This facilitated classes for beginners, the ECDL basic and ECDL advanced as well as specialist ICT courses. The next project was the creation of a website that would provide a picture of the village and its facilities.  This was launched in 1998 and totally revised and updated in 2001. The latest activity has been to obtain funding for Club@9 and this has been highly successful in providing Saturday night activities for young people, who are bussed from the village centre to the GAA club, provided with activities by professionals and then returned to their homes.
