Viking ships along Strangford Lough In the year 1002 Sitric (Sigtrygg II Silkbeard Olafsson), King of the Danes, passed through the mouth of Strangford Lough with a fleet and plundered Kilclief Church with considerable loss of life.

Soon after this date, a Norman knight Roger De Dunesforthe gives his name to Dunford

The Ardtole Massacre Ardtole Church is burnt and congregation is massacred.

Our Lady of Dunsford Statue This statue was originally associated with the earlier church situated on the site of St Mary’s Church of Ireland and is one of the last surviving pre-reformation statues.

The Piping Rock The Piping Rock where the Fairies danced.

Sheepland Mills The Sheepland Windmill in Dunsford is one of the first mills to grind corn in the Lecale.

L'Amitie sinks off Sheepland The French ship L'Amitie wae shipwrecked on the coast of Sheepland while carrying guns and ammunition for the United Irishmen.Out of a crew of 104 men, only 1 survived.

Georgetown Victory aground The Georgetown Victory runs aground off Killard Banks
